Mister idli Special Nagercoil Avial
We have been getting a lot of requests on our social media asking us to post the recipe of Mister Idli’s signature dishes. Hence we have decided to start this recipe session which curates the making process of the delicious South Indian cuisines from Mister Idli. Nagercoil Avial (mostly served with rice) is one of the most loved cuisines of Mister Idli and is one of the most asked recipes. Read the full recipe below.

Ingredients
CURD – 1/4 CUP
ASH GROUND – SMALL PIECE
DRUM STICK – 2
EGGPLANT – 3
CURRY LEAVES – 2 PORTIONS
RAW MANGOS – 1
FENNEL SEEDS – 2 SPOONS
BROAD BEANS – 20 PIECES
RED CHILLY POWDER – 1 ½ SPOON
WHITE CUCUMBER – SMALL PIECES
TURMERIC POWDER – 2 SPOON
SALT – AS PER THE REQUIREMENTS
ELEPHANT FOOT YAM – 250 GRAMS
RAW PLANTAIN – 2
SNAKE GROUND – 2
GRATED COCONUT – 2
COCONUT OIL – ½ CUPS
GREEN BRINJAL – 3
CARROT – 2
GREEN CHILLY – 10
Grind coconut, cumin and green chilly to a coarse paste without adding any water. Keep this aside.
Add all vegetable in a thick bottom pan. Layer the vegetables according to their cooking time (the vegetable that takes more time to cook on the bottom of the pan and vice versa). Add salt and turmeric. Cover this with a lid and simmer this for 10 mins till the vegetables are half cooked.
Remove the lid and mix the vegetables with a spoon. Add the coarse mix, raw mango, curry leaves, curd and coconut oil, and close it to cook well.
Open the lid after 5-6 minutes and mix everything to perfection.
Serve it hot with rice, dosa and ADA.
